Creative Critical Reflection

Image
Name: Mya Hauser Creative Critical Reflection 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?  My product used conventions in multiple ways. For example, just like in the rest of the Adidas commercials, the commercial included people wearing the product and being active. Also, the video included a clip of someone playing soccer just like many other commercials for this product does. The reason this was included in the video is that my group and I felt like these clips represent what the brand can be used for. In the commercial, when it comes to the product in general represents no specific social group, it shows a 1v1 against two players, and the player that won showing good sportsmanship towards the losing team. However, the message of our specific commercial represents those who are involved in sports and how they are all the same. Just because one team loses doesn't mean they can be rude to the winning team.  2. How does y

Commercial

This commercial was such a great educational experience! I enjoyed the process of creating the idea for the commercial and then pursuing that idea. It was so fun to film the select scenes we had drew for the storyboard. I had brought certain clothing for the actors to wear, which was Adidas brand, and this felt like I was on a real filming set. As we edited these clips, it was so cool to see how our project was all coming together. The finishing project really shocked me because it looked like a real commercial. I also enjoyed working with my group for this project because i loved the feeling of being part of a team. This project had taught me how important it is to blog your process. When I had read my blogs after finishing the commercial, I had forgot how much work we actually did and it was great to read how many ideas we had before going into this. All in all, this was a great project and experience that will help me with future filming projects.

Editing Blog

Today, I finished our editing blog. When I arrived at the class, we all brainstormed ideas for music to incorporate into the commercial. This was very challenging because I wanted a certain song that conveyed suspense and hype to our commercial. At first, I had searched up 'hype songs' into the google web browser to find a list of songs to use. I listened to about 30 seconds of each of the 20 songs that were recommended. Nothing really stood out to me in any of these songs, so I tried another idea. I had opened my apple music library and skimmed through some songs. I found the song 'Pompeii' sung by Bastille. I thought that this would be the perfect song to use because it is very well known and has that perfect pace and rhythm I was looking for. After, I had converted it into an Mp3, since that was one of the requirements. From there, I had added it to my commercial to complete the process. I had listened and watched the commercial with my group and we had all felt that

Editing Blog

Today, I started to edit our commercial. Before today, I did not know a single thing about editing videos. This made me feel like I would be no help to the group. Instead of sitting there and not being a part of the team, a partner in my group taught me a simple way of how to edit and peace the clips together. From there, I collaborated with the group discussing Which clips were better than the other, so that we were able to use them for our commercial. At first, I sent all of the videos that I filmed from my phone to a group chat that we had made a few days prior for the project. From there, I transferred all the videos onto one phone and started the editing process. After I had added all of the videos that we had filmed, our timestamp came out to be one minute. From there, knowing that our commercial had to be 30 seconds or less, I had work to do. I went from clip to clip, deleting the videos that did not outperform others. After that process, I continued to add the best clips to use

Filming Blog

On Tuesday, my group and I filmed the last couple of shots for our commercial. The clips we needed to film involved a soccer ball. This was our second day of shooting for our commercial, I, as the Fillmer, had made sure that everyone brought the same attire to wear so that our commercial did not look choppy. At first, I, the filmer, laid on the ground to get a good low-angle shot of an actor, wearing Adidas brand sportswear. This actor had her foot resting on the soccer ball, getting ready to win the game. We had taken many recordings of this clip to make sure that the camera was focused and steady. From then, in that same position filmed another actor trailing the first actor trying to obtain the soccer ball, to win the game. This clip had also taken a good amount of time to film, so we were able to make sure that the scene looked realistic as if they were playing a real game. I then stood up and filmed both actors playing a game of soccer. This shot involved the actor, who was wearin
